Ready to warm up? Here’s a sample puzzle

At the top of the southern façade of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, you'll see four figures. At first glance, they seem like ordinary workers — a stonemason, a farmer, a sailor, a carpenter. Or… are they? Who’s actually represented on the façade?

This puzzle is not part of the main route. But in the actual city quest, you’ll come across many others — asking you to "find", "count", or "crack a code". Some are easier, some a bit trickier — but always meant to keep the walk fun.

Can’t figure it out? You can always ask for a hint. And if that doesn’t help — simply reveal the answer.

Sample Quest Fact

While walking along one of Amsterdam’s busy streets, you might overlook a small white stone built into a lock. But that stone marks the zero level of the Netherlands' elevation system (NAP). It was placed there in 1682 by order of Mayor Johannes Hudde, so that future generations would know how high the dikes need to be raised.

This fact isn’t part of our city quest. But we have others — with more detail and more depth!

You won’t find this in the quest

They say the Schreierstoren tower in Amsterdam was nicknamed "the Weeping Tower" because wives used to stand here, tearfully waving their husbands off to sea.
A beautiful story. Just not a true one.
In fact, the name comes not from the word to weep (schreien), but from sharp angle (schrey) — the tower stood at a sharp corner of the old city wall.

You won’t find “facts” like this in our quest. We’ve checked and double-checked everything. No urban legends for the sake of drama. And that doesn’t make the real story any less exciting.
